I can’t help it. She’s sooooo adorable. She took that do, pulled her twists back into a pony, and put colorful banded ribbons on it and it turned out soooo cute.
She said the kids kept asking her if she had kinky twists. Finally she told someone, “No kinky twists are fake hair, mine is real.” Now I’m not sure if I got that retort word for word but y’all get the idea. Gotta love this kid for loving and knowin’ how to put nappy out there is such a positive way.

very pretty. I love her ends. How do the ends look like that?

Hi Nicole!
Thanks. If you have coily nappy hair and the ends are healthy, they will coil up at the end of twists when you use a moisturizing product. However, some people do have multiple textured hair or an entire head of nappy hair that has more loops, bends and kinks than coils and so the ends may not coil up like that when the hair is in twists.
Also, if you’ve been straigtening your naps for any reason, after a period of time the ends will go straight from heat damage. Two years ago, my sis had to cut about 4 inches of hair off because an Aunt (dad’s side), who often braids my nieces hair, had been pressing it to make her hair easier to work with, left her ends straight, dry and damaged.
But once her ends were cut off and that pressing ceased, her hair, when twisted could do what they do, and that’s make those cute little coils.
Mine and my mom’s all do the same thing…but only when our hair is in twists.

hello, and greetings from a fellow napster
ur niece’s hair is really quite gorgeous. how long has she been growing it out? i’ve been working on mine for the past two years- cut off all the perm and started to grow again from the root- and its nowhere as long as that.

Hi Sweet Belizean Gyal,
Welcome and thanks! She was natural until the age of 6 1/2 when my sis decided to have a relaxer put in her hair, which at the time was down to her belt loops. Took only six months for her hair to break off and thin horribly. So from about December when she turned seven until now she’s been growing her hair for about six years now. We’ve had a couple of set backs. One about two years ago when we discovered her other auntie was pressing her hair out before she would cornrow it. This damaged her ends severely and she had to have about 4 inches of hair cut off. But as you can see it’s doing quite nicely now.
