Ok… I decided to go ahead and do another BSL length check. And yeah, I’m there. My hair is once again horribly uneven since my last serious trim… ok, it was more like a cut… well maybe it was a trim… was last fall when I had about an inch cut off my lowest layer. I plan to do that again sometime this summer to get rid of one more major layer. Then that’s it. No more cutting — just trims to help keep my hair healthy and strong.
- Final length check for a really long time. Hair stats currently are Top/crown about 15.5 inches and back/nape about 12 inches. Do I qualify as a long-haired nappy yet?

I came up with yesterday while trying to recreate a bun using a single chop stick. And for the life of me, I could get it right. Then it dawned on me that I needed to twist my my hair twice around the chop stick to get it to act right. It was really driving me nuts, only because I can’t remember if that’s the way I did it the first time or not. Anyhoo, I like it, but then I tried to redo it this morning and ugggggghhhhh I couldn’t get this either. It kept coming out too tight. I wore it to work anyway and ended up taking it loose and making a ponytail in the top and letting the twists in the back just hang down. I’m a little disappointed cause it’s such a cute do, but I really would like to get consistent results each time I do it instead of having to deal with soooooo much trial and error.

Yes, that’s right…two thumbs down. Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy, oh boy am I soooo disappointed. The hair milk ended up leaving my hair really hard and dry and it flaked like dandruff after a few days. I mean really, really badly too. Ewe.
And then there was the Mimosa Hair Butter. Again, my hair was hard and dry after a couple of days. I originally tried it on wet hair, thinking it would seal in the moisture. Not! But here’s the thing… I knew better. I know my hair doesn’t like oils and butters and grease and I let myself get sucked in by the glamor and glitz and the name and other’s enthusiasm for the product. So now I’ve got two products that I know I’ll never use again. Guess I should find a swap and sell board so that I can get rid of them instead of letting them rot in my hair thingy basket.
Note to self: Stick to your guns and your instincts and stay awy from oils and butters!
