Confessions of an Accessories Junkie

Where many nappy-headed ladies obsess over products, I’ve opted to keep my hair care routine fairly simple over the years. Fortunately, I figured out what worked early in my nappy journey and have pretty much stayed with that, with only minor side trips to try other products and always returning to my trusty Proline Lite Creme Moisturizer.

So while others are busy wrecking havoc on their budget with purchase after purchase of various shampoos, conditioners, butters, oils or buying up ingredients for their homemade hair potions, lotions and such, I’m busy with an obsession of a different sort — hair accessories.

I can’t help myself. I simply love hair accessories. Really. Someone on NP pm’d me the other day to tell me how much they love my accessories and wanted to know where I purchase them and I was more than happy to tell her…anywhere and everywhere. Yep, no matter what store I go to, I always manage to find myself in the hair isle looking at and for hair accessories. You name it, and if they sell accessories, I’ve gotta have a peek. Kmart, WalMart, Target, beauty supply stores, chain hair salons, grocery stores. And not just any accessory either. They have to be specifically nap friendly…no cutting edges, no edges that can snag or pull out my hair. As you can see, that pretty much narrows my options so as much as I look, I can tell you that I have probably walked out empty handed. That said, I have to say that I have quite a stash of accessories. And although I don’t spend a lot per item, it does eventually add up to take a little bite out of my wallet.

I’m not mad though cause there are certainly plenty of other things that I could be spending my money on and the one thing that I like about accessories is that, unlike a jar of moisturizer or a bottle of shampoo or conditioner, I can’t use it up.

But dang they do break…ya know? And you know what that means, right. Ha! The need for more accessories! So without further ado, here’s a look back at how I’ve dressed up my hair over the last several years.

A recent find that became and instant favorite. But sadly I broke it, and for the life of me, I cant remember where I purchased it cause Id try to replace it in a heartbeat!

Ok... Heres that hair band that my niece had on. I remember trying it on but I was never comfortable wearing it. This is also one of my earliest attempts at styling my hair. Boy-o-boy hmmm... I never wore this do out the house!

Hi Bobbi and thanks. I always have to have something in my hair or it feels naked. But just keep you creative juices flowing when it comes to accessorizing short hair. You might be surprised with what you come up with.

      Good luck!
